CEC Designs and Installs 4 Stress Relief/Ferritic Anneal Furnaces for Bosch Chassis
Kennesaw, GA (March 17, 2009) – Bosch Chassis Systems, a division of The Bosch Group, has contracted with Consolidated Engineering Company (CEC) to design and manufacture four stress relief/ferritic annealing furnaces for their Dalian, China facility. The Dalian plant is expanding into the processing of cast iron components and required heat treat capacity for two thermal processes – stress relief and ferritic annealing.
After receiving several proposals from other vendors, Bosch came to CEC. The engineers at CEC proposed the use of several batch furnaces rather than one or two larger furnaces (like the other vendors had suggested). There were several reasons for this departure from the large batch equipment. The first was that with 4 smaller units, production could be ramped up in stages and the production process could be more flexible. The second reason was to allow for smaller batches of components to be heat treated as required, while still maintaining the best possible energy efficiency. Finally, the stress relief cycle was at a lower temperature than the ferritic anneal, so the use of several different furnaces allowed for two different thermal cycles to occur simultaneously. In addition to the 4 batch furnaces, CEC also provided a PC based SCADA Data Acquisition System that displays, accumulates, retrieves and prints all process data for all loads over time for historical data analysis.
This contract marks the second successful installation of equipment with Bosch Chassis.
