CEC Drop Bottom furnaces are carefully engineered to assure great temperature uniformity in the furnace and the quenchant to meet military and AMS specs. Drop Bottom furnaces are used when material properties are critical and the time from solution heat treating to quench needs to be at a minimum.

CEC has a standard line of furnaces covered in our Drop-Bottom System (DBS) series. For instance a DBS 200 is 200 cubic feet (5.6 cubic meters) of load basket capacity. CEC units range in sizes from 50 cubic feet (1.4 cubic meters) to 300 cubic feet (8.4 cubic meters) in standard configurations and designs. Mobile Quench tanks can be heated, cooled and % Glycol can be controlled.

Some applications that CEC has made Aluminum Drop-Bottoms for:

  • Wing and fuselage sheet
  • Forged rings and other critical parts
  • Castings
  • Forgings
  • Extrusions

CEC has built some of the largest and most sophisticated Drop-Bottoms in the world. We have installed machines that have up to 20,000 lbs (9091 kg) load capacity with a load width of 23'(7.0m). CEC has built tower type Drop-Bottom furnaces that can process wing struts or similar long extrusions for aerospace applications.

Call today and see why companies such as Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Scot Forge, Ladish and other fine companies bring their most stringent applications to CEC for processing in Drop-Bottom furnaces.
