Process Legend
1) Castings removed from casting station are placed on short conveyor to rapidly convey to furnace area
2) Casting exposed metal temperature is monitored and place in outer mold removal system using pick and place mechanism.
3) Outer mold removal system removes outer mold.
4) Robot at end of outer mold removal system picks up casting and delivers to a hot riser removal unit. After riser removal, block is placed on chain driven furnace.
5) Sand from outer mold removal system and riser removal area is delivered to a sand reclaiming unit that forms the lower level of the first two modules of the heat treat furnace.
6) Total time in furnace is 2 hours for 75 blocks per hour.
7) Multiple castings are removed and placed in air quench/cool unit for about 3 minutes with a pick and place unit.
8) Castings at the end of cool unit transition into a conveyor perpendicular to unit that feeds into subsequent finishing processes.
9) Sand removed from castings is reclaimed for recycling. |
